I guess I am done talking about pregnancy, newborns, multiples and babies. I will leave this blog as it is for other parents of multiples looking for information on raising multiples in Singapore. If I plan to have another baby, I guess I will blog more then but to be honest, this is not happening in at least another year or two if we take the plunge. We really want to focus on our four toddlers who are taking us on four separate emotional roller-coasters everyday.
But I won’t be gone yet! I’ll be launching another more focused blog on our up-and-coming home-based preschool. At the moment it only has one student – Livia! But the triplets will join her soon enough. I should be launching it in May or June, and I’ll announce it here.
I think its the next logical step for us as we leave behind milk and diapers for learning, exploration and play. Our preschool journey is very inspired by Montessori, Waldorf-Steiner, Reggio-Emillia, self-directed learning, inquiry-based and project-based methods and philosophies, and the new blog will elaborate more on these ideas and how we do it at home. Clearly, I’m no childhood educator and I don’t have a degree in early childhood so I am not committed to a particular principle. These schools of thoughts are really sparks of inspiration on how to get our home-based preschool going. My aim is not for my daughters to be ready for Primary 1, but my goal is to make them independent and self-directed learners who enjoy the process of discovery. I also hope for them to be effectively trilingual in English, Mandarin and Malay. I guess Livia will be sort of a guinea pig – it will be interesting to see how she fares when she enrols in Primary 1.
I started this blog when I found out I was having triplets and I felt so down and out, and writing always helped me feel better. It was a bonus that I met so many friends along the way. I hope other new parents of multiples continue to find this blog helpful. Thank you for all your support and love, and I’ll be back before too long!
p.s: My sewing project will be also continue in our new preschool blog because this time I am going to start to teach Livia to sew 🙂
